Thank you for wanting to volunteer!

East Main JAM ministry works because we have a great group of volunteers!  If you would like to be involved specifically in our children or youth ministries (JAM), please follow the detail instructions below.

Detailed Instructions for Clearances

PA state laws require that all non-profit volunteers and paid staff who work directly with children and youth complete a series of clearances and have them on file with the organization. Each adult volunteer (18+ and out of high school) needs to have five documents on file at the church in order to serve.

  1. Completed East Main Church Child and Youth Volunteer Clearance Certifications Form
  2. Copy of your original PA Child Abuse History Clearance report. To apply for this clearance go to: https://www.compass.state.pa.us/cwis/public/homeNOTE: If you are applying for this clearance for the FIRST TIME, please create an individual account; if you are UPDATING a clearance you can log into your individual account.
  3. Copy of your original PA State Police Criminal Record Check clearance report. To apply for this clearance, go to: https://epatch.pa.gov/TandCVolunteer. NOTE: Click on NEW VOLUNTEER RECORD CHECK (even if you are repeating this process after 5 years) in order to have the background check fee waived. You will then be taken to an online form that you can complete for the background check.
  4. Copy of one of the following two forms: 1.) If you have been a permanent resident of PA for the previous 10 consecutive years, you may complete the Volunteer Request for Waiver of FBI - Federal Criminal History Clearance Form. 2.) If you are not a permanent resident of PA or if you have lived in PA for less than 10 years, you need to complete a FBI - Federal Criminal Background Check which requires digital fingerprinting that can be completed at the Grove City Area Midwest Intermediate Unit IV (MIU IV). For the FBI Criminal Background Check and digital fingerprinting, go to https://www.identogo.com/ and select "Get Fingerprinted." When prompted for a code, use service code 1KG6ZJ (PA DHS Volunteer) and follow all of the necessary steps, including payment of the fee. If you need financial assistance to complete this check, please contact the church office at 724-458-8270 and ask to speak with Melissa Danielson, Associate Pastor.
  5. Completed and signed East Main Presbyterian Church Agreement to Mandatory Reporter Role & Responsibilities form. This form confirms that you have read, understand, and will act in accordance with the following documents: A.) Mandatory Reporter Role for Volunteers letter, B.) Mandated Reporting in Pennsylvania guidelines, C.) FAQ Mandated Reporter information, D.) Procedure for Making a Mandated Report & "Resources and Training for Mandated Reporters."

Hard copies of these documents 1, 4.a, and 5. a-d  are available in the Welcome Center at the church.

Completing your Volunteer File

Original clearances can be photocopied at the church office at no cost to volunteers or scanned and emailed as PDF documents to Melissa Danielson.

We will notify you via email 3 months in advance of your clearance expirations so you can update your file and maintain continuity of service.

If you have questions or need assistance with this process, please call  Associate Pastor, Melissa Danielson at 724-458-8270.

Thank you for making this investment in the safety, integrity, and excellence of our ministries with children and youth!
